Oh my goodness! A must go to. We tried half the menu and it was absolutely amazing. The flavors. The flavors. THE FLAVORS! Got an opportunity to meet the chef and cooking staff. Such an honor. Such an experience. Thank you so much! A fun atmosphere with super cute decor, great music, and knowledgeable friendly waiters. It is loud, but not to where you can't have a conversation with your table. It was just enough volume to where you could eat and grove in your seat to the music. THE FOOD The octopus and shrimp: must eat a bit with everything in the bite. The cucumber and jalapeños do something to it. Octopus kinda tough, but really well seasoned. Plantain snack: hella yes! The sauces were really good. Hold on to any remaining sauce to use to dip other food or top off rice. Cabbage : hella good! Smoked and perfectly seasoned. Get two! Jerk Chicken: so moist so good. Get extra sauce Fish and Dumplings: maaaaan! This won. Amazing. Rice: greeeeeeat! Roti: how. How they get out to be do perfect? I haven't had perfect roti since Singapore. So buttery with those crispy edges. DRANK Mango Memento: nice light appreciate the salted rim with dried fruit bits. El Derato: not rust outs called but it's essentially their version of a Manhattan and baaaaaby! It was great.

Can't say enough about this place. So when we got there the server told us that "it's not authentic Caribbean to the letter but you'll find that it is in spirit" and I think that covered it. This place is extremely loud. Don't expect to be able to have easy conversation, but also DO NOT let this fact deter you. Get you some earplugs and have a drink. You'll be fine. Everything was family style. We got the pink pineapple which was mixed with chunks of watermelon and what tasted like Korean pears. It was served in what tasted like a fish broth with papaya and balsamic. It sounds weird but it worked. The beef patties were made with beef cheek and it was folded over like an empanada. Pastry was flaky and delicious and I can honestly say it's the first time in my life when I discovered okra in something and didn't get mad about it. We got a sweet potato that was served on a bed of toasted coconut and garlic, with a lime and lemongrass (?) aioli. The beans on top were crispy, almost like they'd been flash fried. The textures on this were out of this world. We ordered the wild boar pepper pot and the only way I can think to describe it is that it tasted like Christmas. It was almost plummy and cinnamony and the meat was fatty and rich but not overly fatty in the way that you'll be sick later. For sides, we got Guyanese roti that tasted like it was made with a whole stick of butter, and we got the fried plantains. All of this when eaten together was one of the best bites of food I've ever had in my life. For dessert we got the coconut tres leches which came with a scoop of pineapple sorbet. It was like making a piña colada dessert. The white chocolate coconut mousse on top was so rich. Between the two of us, we had three drinks which were all unique, flavorful, and strong. And even as overboard as we went on this celebration dinner, we still got out under 200 after tax and tip. Make the reservation. Wait however many weeks you have to wait for your reservation. Do whatever you've gotta do to get there. Just go.

Awesome food. Amazing staff. Free valet was phenomenal. Overall, a really wonderful experience. Docked one star because music was just insanely loud. I kept getting notifications on my watch that if I stayed in this loud of an environment for over 30 min it could result in permanent hearing damage. Way too loud. My husband and I were yelling to eachother. Looked over at other tables and they weren't talking likely because of the same reason

Fun shareable food, and super unique dishes! For 2 people we ordered Jerk Chicken, Haitian Griot, ceviche, roti, and sweet plantains - we were very stuffed! Food: The jerk chicken is popular for a reason! Spiced and full of flavor, the chicken was so moist and the portion was huge. The Haitian griot was probably my favorite though, super tender and the perfect crunch on top from the crispy pig ears. Ceviche is a must try, very fresh and citrus forward. The roti was buttery and fluffy, a great side to pair with the entrees. The plantains were ok, they were flavorful but too sticky for my taste and was a small portion - would pass on this. Service: Everyone was so attentive and gave some great recommendations on what to try. I love that they bring out the dishes in courses, and ours was timed perfectly. Vibe: Super artistic vibe, and amazing lighting during the evening. Feels very elevated as well. It was pretty loud though, so something to keep in mind. The food was amazing and I would definitely come back to try the other options on the menu!

Oh Canje! You lived up to the hype and we are so glad we finally got the chance to partake in such a delicious meal. We went all out - of course! Drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts. Appetizers/Wah Gwaan (in order of my favorite) Beef Patties - get 2 of these, the pastry OH MY, the butter on it wow and the beef ?! what a beautiful bite. Oh and that sauce, sure it was nice but without it was perfect. I'd swap the sauce for another pattie, that's just me! Avocado Escabeche - this one was a surprise, at a first glance I wasn't too sure about it, but don't judge a book by its cover yall! It needs some chips (the chips that came with the ceviche or something) Ceviche - fresh and enough to share! I hoped it had a kick though, the pepper aroma was such a tease Main dishes/Suppa (in order of my favorite) Jerk Chicken - Star of the show! The jerk is present, the juiciness of the chicken as well. Heads up on the paste, it has the kick for sure! Made sense why maybe it was the last dish that they served us.. Mahi Mahi - maybe a bit overcooked? It didn't matter though because that sauce made me forget about that completely. Wagyu Beef Curry - heard a lot about this one, not my favorite. The beef was tender and the broth was tasty, but it fell flat compared to the others. The restaurant was a bit warm, so eating this just made me even more hot. Also - it's not as easy to share. Sides/Tryating (in order of my favorite) Roti+Trini Corn+Fried Sweet Plantain YUP, 3 way tie. Wow the TOTI, just wow, I'd like to order a dozen of these to go please?! I thought maybe they were smaller but they're a good size, buttery, not too thin, no too thick. The corn with that butternut squash sauce was the texture and balance I was looking for, such a delight! Chef's kiss on the sweet plantain, beautifully cooked, a bit crunchy, not burnt, just lovely! And last but not least Dessert/Linkkle Moure Chocolate Flan - more mousse like than the "flan" I'm used to. Rich not overpowering. Rice Krispie - underwhelming, nope not marshmallow-ey (which I didn't know what to expect, but I mean the blue commercial wrapper Rice Krispie is all I know, sorry!) BUT I was excited to see how they were going to prepare it, but it was bland and flat. Oh, the drinks! I got the First Dance and the Juxtaposition First Dance is sweet and refreshing Juxtaposition is boozy and I couldn't find the flavor so it wasn't my favorite The ambiance is beautiful, perfect for small and large groups. Make sure to make reservations! At the beginning it did feel like we were being rushed to place our orders, but the service got better and more relaxed as our experience went on. Loved how the servers would explain what was on the dish and it was something like they enjoyed doing. Last comment- not sure if it was the jerk on the chicken, or just because of the Texas heat, but it felt really warm at some point. Overall it was an awesome time and would definitely come back and try other dishes!

Tried this Caribbean restaurant for the first time and really enjoyed the food here. We ordered jerk chicken, wagyu beef curry, street corn, and Guyanese style roti. We also ordered a bowl of rice that tasted good! Everything was really good especially the jerk chicken the spicy and crispy chicken melted in the mouth! The wagyu beef was soft and delicious. The corn was light and nice and the roti was so crispy! The service was great and the ambiance was amazing! It's a nice dinner place and has a bar too inside. The cost is a bit higher than the serving even though it can be shared among atleast 3 people

Absolutely vibes.. My first visit was a quick one for takeout, however everything from the exterior to interior screams good vibes only! Located just east of downtown, Canje is situated a developing East 6th St area. Discovered via word of mouth, I reached out to a peer for a must try spot in ATX, lo and behold Canje was the spot. Unfortunately, this visit I didn't get to dive down the menu as my taste buds would've like. I opted for some lighter options and went with the Oxtail Patties. PHEMNOMAL ladies & gentlemen, the flaky crust did it for me! Small, flavorful, flaky .. combined with the sauce they're served with I was thoroughly impressed. Fairly small and 2 for $15, I'd like to see them a tad bit bigger or make it 3/$15. Take out only took roughly ten or so minutes, considering I walked in. Things to keep in mind, make a reservation! The bar is fairly big with ample seating and the summer time patio is a great option as well. Canje, I'll definitely be back to run down the menu next time!!

This is one of the best restaurants in Austin and super reasonably priced. I come here every time I'm in town for business and the food never misses. The ceviche's are phenomenal, super bright and tasty. For mains, the wagyu, roti and fish are great choices and can even be shared if you get some sides. All in all, if you can score a reso here, definitely go. It is super loud AF inside though.

Had made reservations for our team meeting, and we were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation time after showing up 10 minutes early! Our super energetic and excitable hostess suggested a few spirit forward cocktails, as we went ahead placing our order which included a few very delicious items. One cannot go wrong ordering the Smoked Avocado Escabeche ($13) - an absolute new dish to me, but was the best on the table. As a vegetarian this is best appetizer on their menu. The table did enjoy the Ceviche ($18) as well. While the menu for vegetarians is limited in option, the Sweet Potato ($20) is a good dish to order. It was the most enjoyable when it was warm, but as the potatoes started to cool down, the dish became slightly dry. No specific flavor punch to the dish, but enjoyable dish. Our table thoroughly enjoyed the Jerk Chicken ($34) and the Curry Wagyu Beef. We had also ordered a Guyanese Style Roti ($6) which took a long time to arrive; and the Cucumber Mango Chow was missing acidity and spice. Service was good, and noise levels were on the average end. Will definitely recommend this place to friends and family!

Omg! I can not begin to tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. Originally, we were looking to dine at an establishment located next door to this one, but they had closed in observance of Independence Day. We saw several people entering this establishment and decided to check it out. I'm so happy we did! All of the indoor tables were booked up, so we opted to be seated at the bar. The menu is served family-style and consists of some small plates, larger entrees & sides. The staff will give you the full run-down on how that works. We chose to go with the Oxytail Patties (10/10; ordered a second round), the Jerk Chicken (10/10), the Roti (8/10) and the Fried Sweet Plantains (7/10; I wish they were a bit crispier). This meal was so many firsts for me. I'm almost ashamed to say that I've only ever had jerk chicken before at the Indiana State Fair. I've never had oxtail before this, nor have I had roti. I loved every bite, and the sauces were all delicious and quite complimentary to the dishes.
